Moroccanoil review

The oil which generated the biggest hype in the beauty world in the past few years.

So, what’s the hype really about? And more importantly, is it worth it?

Moroccan oil, or argan oil is harvested from the argan tree (or, to be more precise, the nut of its fruit), which is pretty much exclusive to Morocco, hence the name. There is an interesting story behind it – with Berbers and goats, which you can google if you’re into that kind of stuff.  I know I did. 😀

The important thing is, study the ingredients list carefully when buying any argan oil.  Pure, 100 per cent argan oil is rare to come by and thus pretty expensive. I don’t own it so can’t really comment on the benefits, but rave reviews and long history might speak for themselves.

The one above, however, is packed with silicones ( ”-cone”).  Let’s have a look at the ingredients list:

Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil, Parfum (Fragrance), Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Seed Extract, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Benzyl Benzoate, Alpha- Isomethyl Ionone, Red no.17, Yellow no. 11, (2012 formula)

As most people are aware of, the key to reading the ingredients list of EVERY product, be it food or makeup, is bearing in mind that the order is what matters.  In other words the ingredient that weighs the most is listed first, and the one that weighs the least is listed last. While the most popular version of argan oil is not too deceiving with the oil coming third on the list, it’s far from pure.
Still, I would repurchase, as it does make my hair soft and shiny without weighing it down.  The light version is recommended for blonde or fine hair. For the whole range of products click here.

Give it a go and tell me what you think! 🙂
