Dior Diorskin Poudre Libre

In Dior‘s words:

Matte and luminous hydrating loose powder

”This soft, loose powder blends beautifully with the skin’s natural skin tone and sets makeup with the perfect finishing touch. Mica micro-particles reflect light to give the skin extraordinary radiance. Beauty tip: For a natural finish, lightly brush powder over the face. For extra sophistication and longer wear, apply with powder puff and brush off excess, particularly on the t-zone.” I have it in 001 (Transparent Light).

poudre libre                                Well, I’m not too keen on this. Why?

                               – it does deliver matte skin just like any other setting powder, but no          luminosity whatsoever

                               -it can appear quite cakey

                               – a very bulky, inconvenient case

                              – it does not contain sunscreen

                              – needs constant touch-ups

… and all this for 50 €! Seriously?

Does anyone else have a different experience with Poudre Libre? I usually worship Dior, so this came as a major disappointment. Not repurchasing…

Keune Blonde Enhancing Treatment

Remember my Ron Weasley hair obsession? If not, check it out here! Well, seems that my search for a hair product that eliminates those ugly brassy tones is finally over! Keune’s new  Blonde Enhancing Treatment does it all:

keune blonde

– conditiones

adds shine

makes hair more manageable

         – gives significant volume to fine hair

UV protection

         – and finally – actually helps keeping those nasty yellow  undertones at bay!!!

What Keune says:

”Conditions, moisturizes and strenghtens high-lighted and lighter colored hair. Violet pigments eliminate unwanted yellow tones.”

I second this.

This is worth every penny, I can’t seem to find a single downside to it. The fact that it replaces a volume product is an added bonus! Highly recommended! Official info HERE.

Would I repurchase? Hell yeah.

What do you say, blondes? Have you tried this? Any tips/products for fixing brassiness?

January Wishlist

Currently I’m lusting after:

1.) Lancôme Teint Miracle

– the ultimate liquid foundation for covering redness! (official info HERE)

lancome teint miracle

2.) Dior Addict Lip Maximizer

lip maximizer

Actually, I should have put this under ”wish to travel so I could get this duty – free priced”.  One of the best transparent glosses (for the review and official info click here).

3.) Ciaté  Caviar Manicure

Caviar-Manicure

The most popular bubbly these days.  I’m in love!

Official info here.

4.) Jo Malone Earl Grey & Cucumber Cologne

Earl-Grey-CucumberThis sounds so strange I can’t resist the temptation (I wonder what would my mentor, a psychodynamic oriented psychiatrist, have to say about this :D). Has anybody tried it? (info here)

5.) And last but not least when it comes to wishing, due to the recent preooccupation  with Health Education (or should I call it Sex Education?)  in the area I live in – A WORLD WITHOUT HOMOPHOBIA. Or any other discrimination, for that matter. A quote comes to mind: ,,Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands?”.

Kérastase Bain Force Architecte Review

If your hair is extremely damaged, intra-cylane (popularly known as Botox for hair) is the answer. Actually, scissors are the only true answer but if you want to both keep your locks and make them visibly stronger, this will help.
What is intra-cylane, anyway? Have a look at my previous post here to find out a bit more.

My hair is literally saved by this – L’Oréal Professionnel Fiberceutic hair masque (also intra-cylane based) has transformed my fine, weak and dull hair to almost average looking, relatively strong and shiny locks! Highly recommended! After raving about this for ages, I decided to get a shampoo as well. When it comes to hair care routine, less ain’t more in my book!  Kérastase Bain Force Architecte was the first intra-cylane based shampoo I came by. If you happen to know of any other, please do let me know! 🙂

kerastase

Kérastase says:

”Our 1st reconstructing shampoo, with Ciment-Cylane3 Complex, for brittle and very damaged hair (erosion level 3-4).

Hair feels reinforced, stronger, with a shiny look. Apply to wet hair. Massage into the lengths and scalp. Emulsify and

rinse thoroughly. A unique combination of 3 exclusive active ingredients which bring hair repair to a new level: Intra-

Cylane + Pro-Keratine + Ceramides.”

For a serious monthly treatment use the two intra-cylane products combined and finish off with two pumps of Mythic Oil on damp hair. Hair rehab guaranteed!

For best results, I use it every 6 months for a deep fibre-filling monthly treatment!

Would I repurchase: Definitely, twice a year!

Clinique 3-Step Skin Care – yes or no?

Happy New Year!

I’ve been lazy again – I promised this post back in twenty twelve 😉 …which has been such a lousy year, by the way. Here is to a better one for all of us!!!

cocktail 1

Back to the post: As far as Clinique‘s 3-Step Skin Care goes, it’s been around for so long that every beauty junkie has certainly tried out at least one, if not all of the steps.  If you’re still not sure what to make of it, here are my thoughts that might help you decide if it’s right for you! (For reference, my skin is rather fair with warm undertones and, apart from mild rosacea, in quite a good condition).  So, without further ado:

STEP 1 : Cleanse : (LIQUID) FACIAL SOAP

Price: 11 – 15 £; more info here

clinique 3 cleanse

In Clinique’s words, it’s ”the first step to great skin, our hand-milled non-drying bar soap maintains protective lipids while loosening surface flakes. Leaves skin clean, comfortable, refreshed-never taut or dry. Preps skin for the exfoliating action of Clarifying Lotion. Comes with a convenient soap dish. ”

Available in 3 versions – Extra Mild, Mild and Oily, this soap makes for a gentle cleansing routine.  I tried the Mild and Liquid version a couple years ago and, frankly, never was I tempted to repurchase. There wasn’t enough…chemistry, I guess.

However, if you like to keep your cleansing routine basic,  gentle, simple, fragrance-free and effective, this might be worth a try!

STEP 2:  Exfoliate: CLARIFYING LOTION

Price:  £; available for 5 skin typesfor more info here

index

”Step 2 in Clinique’s 3-Step Skin Care System-and the difference-maker for great skin. Gentle exfoliating lotion developed by Clinique’s dermatologists de-flakes to reveal clearer skin. Smoothes the way for moisture.”

In my words (check the post out here): ”there are very mixed opinions on this one, people seem to either love it or hate it! I’ve been using number 2  for years now and would rather give up on chocolate than this little miracle! True, my skin probably is my best organ (no pun intended this time!), but this toner makes my skin flawless. I use it in the morning and evening, before moisturizing.  My skin used to get quite flaky, especially during winter, but since I’ve been using this that doesn’t happen at all.”  One of my top 5 beauty HGs.

p.s. Clarifying Lotion is currently on sale at Cheapsmells for only 9.99 pounds and they ship worldwide (this is NOT sponsored, I just bought mine!).

STEP 3: Moisturise: DRAMATICALLY DIFFERENT MOISTURISING LOTION/GEL

Price: 17-29.5 £; more info here

Clinique DDML (with pump)

Clinique DDML (with pump)

Clinique DDML (no pump- avoid this one!)

Clinique DDML (no pump- avoid this one!)

Clinique DDML (Gel - for oily skin)

Clinique DDML (Gel – for oily skin)

”The moisture “drink” all skins need, developed by Clinique’s guiding dermatologists to maintain optimal moisture balance. Works to soften, smooth, improve the condition and texture of your skin. Lotion formula is for drier skins; oil-free Gel is perfect for oilier skins.”

It’s meant to be used UNDER your regular moisturiser, which I find too time-consuming. DDML itself is nothing special really, a good moisturiser indeed but with no SPF nor anti-aging properties, just your basic moisturiser. Make sure you get it in the pump version, as the bottle without the pump is pretty useless. As you can see, I’m not overly excited about this one, although I have to admit I did repurchase twice – just to make sure!

So, I say a definite YES for step 2 and MEH for steps 1 &3!

Any thoughts on Clinique’s 3-Step? Tried it, liked it, hated it?
