Kérastase Resistance Ciment Thermique

If you’re one of those lucky bastards people with thick, healthy, shiny hair please skip this one…this post is for those less fortunate. So, if you’re not blessed with a gorgeous mane and tend to worsen the situation with heated appliances there are a few things you could do to protect your hair. Obviously the best and only completely safe thing to do would be to ditch the whole styling thing altogether…funny how similar to sex everything beauty related can be! (OMG this sounds a bit off…You’ll have to forgive me for my broken language this days. I had a little girl recently and the lack of sleep doesn’t help with this).

So, in my constant search for better hair I couldn’t skip Kérastase Resistance Ciment Thermique, probably one of the most popular hair products around.

ciment-thermique-260-410-164

Kérastase says:

Resurfacing and strengthening, anti-breakage blow-dry milk for damaged hair.

  • Strengthens the feel of damaged, brittle hair.
  • Thermo-seal glazing smoothes the hair and adds shine.
  • Makes hair easier to style.
  • Offers heat protection*
  • Suitable for colour-treated hair.

Yours truly claims:

  1. hair feels much smoother and somewhat stronger
  2. seems to reduce heat damage long-term
  3. nice, subtle scent
  4. doesn’t make hair (too) oily

I’d say give it a go if your hair is fine to medium with signs of heat damage. It might become your hair saver like it did for many people on MUA. I can’t say I’m completely in love with this but it was worth the money (which is around 20 quid).

Would I repurchase? Only if I don’t find anything better.

Overall: 3.5/5

Next: Tatcha – a brand worth trying?

No/little fuss self tan:ST. TROPEZ

When it comes to self tanning, the pros rarely outweigh the cons – the smell of most self tanners is downright terrible and the orange hue is a dead giveaway. Add dirty, smelly sheets to the whole unnatural process and you get a rather unpleasant experience. At least that’s what it was for me before discovering St.Tropez line. No wonder celebrities use it! It’s a foolproof, relatively odourless self tan that even someone as clumsy as me could use without major bathroom drama. To be perfectly honest, I don’t care for colour much (no pun intended) but for those rare occasions when I don’t want to glow in the dark this is as good as it gets without actual sun.

What the company says:

Our original, Vitamin E-infused hydrating formula delivers the most intense natural colour in our Self Tan Classic range. Simply smooth on with an Applicator Mitt of Latex gloves to deliver a rich golden, streak-free tan that lasts up to 7 days.

How to apply

Exfoliate with St.Tropez Body Polish before moisturizing dry areas thoroughly with St.Tropez Body Moisturiser (elbows, knees, ankles and feet).  Help protect light eyebrows and hairline with a little extra moisturiser. Then, smooth on from toes to top, taking great care not to rub as this can make your tan uneven. Once you’ve got coverage, wait until touch dry before getting dressed. Try not to get wet, or sweat, for at least four hours. Finally, shower off to reveal a perfectly golden, natural looking tan. To maintain, re-apply a couple of times a week, nourish daily with St.Tropez Body Moisturiser and smooth with regular exfoliation for ultimate results.                                                                                                DSCF1576

What I say:

  • easy to apply – provided you have at least 4 hours free time on your hands
  • works just as described, unlike many products of the sort!
  • the most important thing for me – the smell is bearable. Once you shower, it’s almost non-existent.
  • the colour is subtle and pretty believable
  • the colour fades off evenly, no dirty looking patches
  • fair price

Would I repurchase? Absolutely.

Definitely 5/5 🙂

Have you tried it and if yes, did you like it?

Seche Vite dry fast top coat

Seche Vite. Perhaps the most popular top coat ever. If you are female and have nails you’ve probably heard of it. If you still haven’t here’s the lowdown:

seche

  •  A top coat? More of a car paint sealant. Seriously.
  • Should be applied on wet nail polish, dries within seconds
  • No fuss application
  • Gel-like finish on any nail varnish, even the rubbish ones
  • One bottle should last at least half a year with weekly applications
I can think of just two downsides – it stinks and also, getting a thinner (also from SECHE – Seche Restore) is an absolute must. However, Seche Restore can be used with any nail polish so the money is well-spent. Talking about the money – both the top coat and the thinner shouldn’t set you back much more than 20$.

Here’s what Seche says:

Seche Vite™ dry fast top coat is widely acknowledged as the world’s finest top coat. Specially formulated to penetrate through nail lacquer to the base coat forming a single solid coating over the nail plate for a much more durable finish. Guaranteed not to yellow while leaving nails silky, stronger and resistant to chipping and peeling.

Would I repurchase? YES!

OVERALL: 5/5

The Inspiring Blog Award

Thank you, dear Mademoiselle Snow! My third blog award :blushing:

Don’t forget to check her blog out for your daily fix of glamour!

The rules are to answer the questions:

1. What clothing item makes you feel at your best?

My Burberry bag. Wait, does that actually count as a ”clothing item”?

2. When are you most energetic? Morning/noon/evening?

In the evenings, for sure…

3. Time to kick back and relax! What’s your pick-me-up food/drink?

Pretty much anything unhealthy, I’m afraid.

4. Your favorite kind of chocolate?

After Eight – chocolate meets mints, mmm…

5. To follow-up on that, what’s your favorite pastime?

Planning future trips…

6. What sound do you love?

Cats purring. 🙂

7. If you could pack your bags and leave right now, what country or city would you go to?

Japan if I craved familiarity and New York for novelty.

8. Do you have any bad habits?

No. Seriously?

9. What’s one habit others do that you absolutely can’t stand?

All those that I can’t stand about myself, if I dig a bit deeper. Which I have to,  every week, in order to become a shrink. 😀

Once again, I would like to pass this award on to the fab 10:

  1. A Beauty Junkie in London
  2. Heather Poole
  3. British Beauty Blogger
  4. Vex in the City
  5. Mademoiselle Snow
  6. Thoughts in Little Boxes
  7. KofyKat
  8. cupcakesakura
  9. Sweetjellybean
  10. Peach Milk Tea

A lazy one: The Addictive Blog Award

I’ve been quite lazy with passing on rewards, so I need to thank AND apologize to the lovely Bewitchery for nominating me for The Addictive Blog Award, quite some time ago… I certainly hope laziness isn’t addictive, too!

The rules are:

1. Thank the person awarding you. Done! 🙂 Do check her blog out on http://bewitchery.wordpress.com/

2. Share a little about why you blog and how the journey started.

Check! A connection between Ken and makeup has already been explained here. Everything is true but my age, I have to admit…  😉

3. Paste the blog award on your page. Check!

4. Nominate 10 other bloggers you feel deserve the award.

In no particular order:

Naomi!

There were only 5 entrants, each entrant was given a number according to the order they’d entered the giveaway.  To choose the winner I used true random number generator.

CONGRATULATIONS NAOMI, please contact me  (either on Facebook or here), so I could send you the goodies 😉

p.s. I spent 2 hours trying to paste the true random number generator on here, but it wouldn’t recognize the  php format.  So I guess you’ll just have to believe my words…

You get one more Japanese classic as a little surprise. 🙂

GOOD LUCK 😉

p.s.  The giveaway ends on Friday, 31/08.  Each entrant will be given a number and the winner will be chosen at random.

I’ll ship to wherever you are.

And the nominees are…

So, a  few days ago I was nominated for the Beautiful Blogger Award by this interesting blogger: http://bewitchery.wordpress.com/. Check her blog out! 😉

The rules for the award are:

  • Post seven interesting things about myself.
  • Nominate other bloggers who IMO deserve the award.
  • Let them know about nomination.

Sooooo…

  1. A few days ago I accidentally shared the blog URL with all my Facebook friends, along with my ex-students. I wasn’t too happy about it, but as it turns out I gained quite a few followers 😀
  2. For the aforementioned reason this blog is and will mostly if not exclusively  be focussed on make-up, not so much on sex, I’m afraid!
  3. I’m a proper snob when it comes to two things – education and make-up. A Cambridge degree should come in a Chanel box, as far as I’m concerned!
  4. I’m at my sexiest at airports. I’m pretty sure I’ve been bitten by a travel bug years ago.  And a certain weakness for pilots and flight attendants doesn’t help either.
  5. I have 2 and a half piercings. Yes, 2 and a half.
  6. I spent a part of my childhood in Japan, at the time of  the Great Hanshin Earthquake in 1995.  The thing I clearly remember is trying to keep my Chanel No19 in one piece. Mind you, I was 12 and the city was pretty much destroyed. Not my precious little bottle though.
  7. I’m a sucker for everything British…apart from fish & chips.

There are quite a few blogs I follow and adore…here is a list of 10 I can think of at the moment:

  1. A Beauty Junkie in London
  2. Heather Poole
  3. British Beauty Blogger
  4. Vex in the City
  5. Mademoiselle Snow
  6. Thoughts in Little Boxes
  7. KofyKat
  8. cupcakesakura
  9. Sweetjellybean
  10. Peach Milk Tea
