L’Oréal Professionnel Absolut Repair Thermo Cell Cream

I’m so in love with this that I don’t know which category to list it under – beauty or sex.  Perfection!!!

If your hair is quite damaged and you’re looking for heat protection, look no further. This is it.  Just apply the cream (milk?) to the lengths and ends (avoiding roots!) and style as usual. It will keep your hair in  fab condition, whatever the heated tools! I promise you this. And so does L’Oréal, I suppose. 🙂 For official info click here.

And remember, less is more!

WOULD I REPURCHASE? If I ever run out of this, most certainly.

L’Oréal Professionnel Fiberceutic – hair botox?

Hair botox without the dreaded botulinum toxin, that is. In the past two years hair salons are advertising it like crazy. So what’s the hype really about? Of course, it has nothing to do with botox – it’s just a clever  pun.  It’s a fibre-filling deep conditioner really.  Pretty good one, though.  There are 3 products available:

1.) Hair filling serum (IN SALONS ONLY. And online, of course)  – in L’Oréal’s words:

Hair rehab starts here! FIBERCEUTIC is série expert’s first two-step fibre-filling in-salon treatment enriched with Intra-CylaneTM, a water-activated molecule that is able to deposit in the hair as evaporation takes place and it is designed to help reinforce the protective layer of hair. Followed by the special sealer, hair feels softer and looks revitalised.

2.)  Fiberceutic Restorative Hair Sealing Treatment – (IN SALONS ONLY). The sealer is the second step of the process. It’s advertised as ”a weightless sealing treatment for hair. Enriched with Intra-Cylane, a water-activated molecule that sticks in hair when evaporation occurs.Seals hair cuticle while consolidating the protective layer of hair. Restores hair fiber without overloading it.Hair appears fuller, suppler, healthier & more lustrous.”

3.) Fiberceutic hair masque (for fine or thick hair):  ”This nourishing and replenishing masque, specifically designed for fine hair, helps prolong the effect of the FIBERCEUTIC fibre-filling service at home. Enriched with Intra-CylaneTM, the formula maintains fine hair’s natural volume and keeps it conditioned and supple between FIBERCEUTIC in salon treatments.”

THE VERDICT:

I have tried all three and fell in love with the mask.  The in-salon treatment (first two products) come at around 10 pounds; the effects are meant to last for a month.  I have done the treatment only once, to no visible improvement.  Therefore, I wasn’t really convinced to go back… Perhaps I should give it another go as the hair mask did a lot to help my poor hair recover from dying – in both senses of the word! My number one hair treatment for sure!

TIP:  Apply the hair mask on dry hair before shampooing and conditioning. For best results leave it in overnight and shampoo in the morning.

Gliss kur Wonder Serum

Apparently there are 4 different versions of this little miracle.  Not a big fan of Gliss Kur range, but  I can’t praise this enough – especially the one with Shea & Cashmere.

So, here they are:

Gliss kur wonder serum

So far I’ve tried Oil Nutritive, Total Repair and Shea Cashmere. My favourite? Defo Shea Casmere. Why? Great scent, lightweight but still softening and conditioning, making my slightly wavy hair almost curly. ..  A real bargain for under a fiver!

Oil nutritive felt too heavy on my fine, fairly damaged hair.  Plus, the smell was a tad too much…

Total repair made my hair a bit dry and unmanageable. ..  I’m sticking with Shea Cashmere!

WOULD I REPURCHASE? Yes – but only Shea Cashmere.

p.s. Please bear in mind that I have no other means of trying this hair products (amongst all the other) anywhere but on my own hair  – which is FINE, POROUS, ANNOYINGLY WAVY, MID-LENGTH & STRAWBERRY BLONDE, so take it into consideration when deciding if it might work for your hair type 😉

I’M INTERESTED IN YOUR OPINION, GIRLS & GUYS – WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE HAIR PRODUCT?

John Frieda Sheer Blonde Colour Renew review

This stuff doesn’t work for me. At all.

What Mr. Frieda says:

  • The formula, containing Colour-Correcting Technology, neutralises brassy and yellow tones.
  • The formula, containing Optical Brightening Technology, absorbs UV light and emits white-blue light, making colour-treated hair appear brighter and salon-fresh.
  • Results are noticeable after just 3 uses.
  • For all shades of colour-treated or highlighted blonde hair

         What I say:

I’ve been using it for months now, twice a week, and the only thing I notice is that it actually makes my hair duller and brassier…  Have to say I dislike the flowery smell, too. The colour of my hair is what hairdressers describe as ”strawberry blonde”. I’d describe it as a longer Ron Weasley. It’s natural up to a certain degree, the one I reach every 6 weeks when strawberry hue overpowers the blonde. Then I reach for this stuff hoping it would remove the brassiness… Never does.  Do I learn from my mistakes?  Nope. What does the trick? L’oreal Casting Creme Gloss in 1010, which I shall be reviewing some other time.  😉

Would I repurchase? No. But it might work if you have very, very light blonde hair.

Beauty tips I wish I knew 10 years ago!

Do you ever feel like your day is waaaayy too short? Or that your salary is waaaaayy too low given how much you work? Same here.  So here is a list of my favourite beauty tips & tricks that make my every day beauty routine a bit more hasslefree and my salary a bit more manageable 😀

BODY:

  • keep your feet moisturized by applying your regular body lotion (I absolutely adore Nivea Q10 Firming Body lotion) to your feet and toenails every day – you will save a few quid on pedicures as the skin on your feet will stay soft even during winter. Key words: every day!
  • if your skin is not extremely sensitive, consider using an AHA based body exfoliator/ scrub every week (L’Oreal Exfotonic is my HG) – the effect is immediate.
  • the best way to prevent razor cuts and burns while shaving is to do it S-L-O-W-L-Y!

NAILS:

  • clean your nails with an alcohol wipe before applying nail polish – removing all traces of grease will help the polish last much longer!
  • to whiten your nails take two halves of a lemon, dig holes in them with your fingers and soak your nails in this fruit nail salad for 10 minutes 😉  Caution: don’t do it if you have any cuts on your fingers – it will sting!
  • nail polish can be cheap as long as you like the colour and you use a good top coat (my HG is Sally Hansen’s Dry & Go Protein Top Coat).  Frankly, I haven’t noticed much difference between Chanel and those cheap mini no name ones – they all last at least 5 days with Sally Hansen top coat on.

HAIR:

  • apply hair masks or treatments / oils before washing your hair and leave them on for as long as possible, but avoid the scalp! Continue with your regular shampoo and conditioner routine. This way you will get nourished but not weighed down hair.
  • if your scalp gets itchy only on certain parts consider the way you wash your hair – it might be the problem is only shampoo residue!  If you do it in the shower chances are your scalp gets itchy on the back as it’s harder to rinse that part of scalp thoroughly in that position, so pay attention to that – divide hair as to rinse the backside of your head properly. If you wash your hair upside down, pay attention to the front part which gets harder to rinse that way!
  • never apply conditioner to your scalp, it will only make your hair greasy sooner! Hair ends is where you need it the most.
  • always finish rinsing with the coldest water you feel comfortable with – the colder the water the shinier the hair! It’s an ancient trick that never gets old – cold water closes hair cuticles and thus makes your hair shiny.
  • always apply hair serum on towel-dried hair – this way, even if you use too much of it, your hair won’t look greasy.
  • if your hair gets greasy easily always use lukewarm water – hot water will only overstimulate sebaceous glands resulting in more oil production.  Moreover, be very gentle when washing and towel-drying your hair – oil glands will get turned on (no pun intended this time!) by too much rubbing, too! 😉
